2010 Knights of Columbus Golf
League Rules
1.
The League will operate on a 90% handicap. Handicaps will be established on
the first night of play, and each subsequent round will be averaged for handicap purposes.
2.
Maximum score on any hole is double par (6 on a par 3; 8 on a par 4; and 10 on a par 5).
PLEASE PICKUP WHEN YOU REACH THIS NUMBER
TO SPEED PLAY.
3.
Player’s whose handicap and age totals 75 play from the Senior Tees; everyone else plays
from the whites. (On the first night when you don’t have a handicap, play from the tees where
you think you belong…remembering the handicap is a 9 hole handicap)
4.
Players should putt out (no gimmes, unless you reach the max score indicated in rule 2)
5.
To speed play, the following rules apply to this league:
a. The ball is
played up (winter rules)
b.
Out of Bounds on #2, #3, and #4 are treated as lateral hazards. (Take a one
stroke penalty and drop where the ball left play)
c. Balls hit into the water on #1,
the ditch on #2, and the water on #8 may be dropped on the green side of the hazard taking a 1 stroke penalty.
6.
Balls in the rock filled drainage ditches on #4, #5, and #6 may be dropped away from the hazard no closer to the hole
with NO penalty.
Tee Times and Foursomes
- We play the front 9 at Kellogg. Tee times begin
at 3:24 and run through 4:44. This allows us a maximum of 44 players each week. Players
should arrive at the course at the time most convenient for them and connect with 3 other players to make a foursome.
Because of the diversity of retirees and employed players, the time frame should result in nobody having to wait too
long to tee off. (If you wish to play with a
certain player or players on a particular week, please make advance arrangements on your own.)
- If your schedule doesn't allow
you to participate at regular league time, you may post a score by playing with at least one other league player earlier in
that day. If you play earlier in the day and also at League time, you must use the score you earned at the regular League
time.
3.
One member of each foursome MUST take responsibility for
collecting prize fees and skins money from players in their foursome and then turning in the fees and the scorecard at the
Knight of Columbus Bar following the round. Please be sure the full name of each player is identified on
the card.
POINTS and PRIZES
- Each week you play you pay $5 into a prize fund.
- Each player earns or loses points on each hole
based on the following
a. Net Double Eagle or less – 6 points
b. Net
Eagle - 4 points
c. Net Birdie – 2 points
d. Net Par - 1 point
e. Net Bogey – Minus 1 point
f. Net Double Bogey – Minus 2 points
g. Net Triple Bogey or worse – Minus 3 points
h. Net Quad Bogey or worse –
Minus 4 points
(net score is your actual score minus the number of strokes you receive on that hole – eg. A
5 handicapper receives 1 stroke on the 5 most difficult holes; a 9 handicapper receives 1 stroke on each hole etc.)
Points
accumulate throughout the year (minus points deduct from your total) and you are paid
out at the year end banquet for the points you’ve earned for the season. The value of a point is
determined on the available prize money divided by the number of points earned by all players.
Each week, the low net player(s)
will share $10 in prize money taken from the prize fund. No award will be given on any week less than 10 players participate.
Skins
A skins game is available on a voluntary basis for anyone
wishing to participate. The entry fee is as follows:
- $3 if your handicap is
5 or less
- $2 if your handicap is 6-9
- $1 if your handicap is 10 or higher
There is NO handicap in the skins game and
the prize money is paid out each week. If there are no skins a particular week, the pot rolls over to the
next week. If you can’t play on a rollover week, then you’re ineligible for the rollover skins.
NOTE:
Each foursome is responsible for collecting skins game fees and turning them in at the end of the round
Year End Tournament and Banquet
Just like last
year, we will flight all players and have a “King of the Hill” elimination match play tournament over the last
4 weeks. This competition will run concurrently with the regular points earning competitions.
(even though you’ll be playing match play for King of the Hill, you’ll still play out each hole for score
to earn points)
The Year end banquet will be held at the end of August following a scramble where prizes can be won.
No points will be earned the last night. Attendees will as in prior years, pay their own way.
There will be no mid-season scramble this year.
